Tottenham Hotspurs took on Newcastle United in the early kick off at White Heart Lane. Sunderland then took on Manchester City at the Stadium of Light and finally in the late kick off Arsenal faced a challenging match at Old Trafford against Manchester United. All these games were on one after the other in quick succession on Sky Sports 1.

Spurs came into the weekend sitting high in the Premier League table, they came entered their game sitting in forth place level on points with second placed Chelsea and five behind league leaders Arsenal. Their opposition was not to be taken lightly however after beating Chelsea the previous week 2-0 at their home ground St James' Park.
Sunderland went into their match after being unable to reproduce their success they achieved in the Tyne-Wear derby. They lost to Hull after having two men sent off. It was imperative that going into this Sundays match they kept all eleven men on the pitch who the whole game. They faced an inform Manchester City who, the week before, beat Norwich an incredible 7-0 and showed little sign of difficulty in their performance.
Also midweek they beat CSKA Moscow in the Champions League showing their performance against Norwich was not a one off performance. Sunderland crucially needed the win to try and kick start the team who were sitting second from bottom of the table with 4 points going into the match. Manchester United had not played their best going into their game and desperately needed a win against the current league leaders to kick start them into title contention.
Though Arsenal looked to be very difficult opponents to beat after their midweek victory over Borussia Dortmund demonstrating the huge improvements the team has made this season. The match against United if won could show everybody that they have a serious chance of winning the league this season.
