Sky News Update: UTV Available Through Existing Box

Sky Offer UTV

Sky news update: Sky and FreeSat have announced that the service UTV will now be available to all of their customers, on HD, through their set top boxes. As of the 4th of November this year customer of Sky and FreeSat will now be able to view their favourite television shows, such as Coronation Street, X Factor and Emmerdale in high definition through their existing set top boxes. The move will make UTV HD, inclusive of the enhanced picture quality and viewing pleasure, available on Sky HD subscribers’ channel 103 and FreeSat channel 119. For the time being the HD channels will only be available through Sky and FreeSat but the higher level of viewing pleasure makes it worthwhile being elite – all of the biggest programmes streamed on ITV in the UK such as X Factor and the flagship soap operas will be available and should draw in the punters as it were.

In addition to these programmes there is also the chance to view some of the UK’s annual sporting highlights as UEFA Champions’ League and FA Cup games will be streamed live on the channel as well as shows like Lesser Spotted Culture. With all of these being offered in HD, customers can look forward to watching their favourite sporting events in brilliant colour. In the autumn of 2010, UTV became the first company to offer HD to Ireland and now they are rolling out more innovative products. Her Majesty the Queen was granted the honour of launching the new service in Northern Ireland in October of that year. Customers across Ireland have gradually had this service made available to them and the service is available to those who buy into the services of Freeview and Virgin Media already so the concept of streaming through another company’s set top box has been tried and tested and proved to work.
